International Promotion Activities

Seeds for Future campaign: Under the Seeds for Future European promotion campaign, from June 9th through June 11th, the FNPSMS attended the FarmConect agriculture fair in Romania, in Slobozia – local county seat as well as HQ city of the Romanian Association of Grain Producers (APPRS). Located at the heart of the country’s crop production fields, within practical distance from Bucharest and the export ports of Constanța, Slobozia could become an important logistical hub for Romanian grains.

The fair, which will be an annual event, benefitted from the Romanian Agriculture Minister’s visit, which attracted a large number of journalists and gave visibility to the first edition of this event. At the fair, the FNPSMS was able to promote hybrid corn seeds. Various brochures and materials developed for the event were distributed to farmers and actors in the seed industry with whom the FNPSMS met. The fair also provided the FNPSMS the opportunity to learn more about the local production. This year, the country’s corn areas are expected to drop, as a result of increased interest in sunflower. Moreover, the lack winter snow and spring rainfalls have strongly impacted the availability of irrigation water. Non-irrigated areas are expanding and are less and less planted to corn, because of the ever-increasing frequency of weather accidents.

Media Campaign:

570 000 people have watched our Seeds for Future videos and ads on Facebook. As to the video presentation of our campaign, it had more than 1 400 000 views on the internet. This is a very good start for our campaign, which indicates a real interest in the subjects that we propose. We will continue to post rich content related to the excellence of the European hybrid genetics. Three websites are now up and operational as useful sources of information: the Seeds For Future page, a website on corn production , and a tab on the sorghum campaign. Both the websites and the page are available in French, English, Spanish, Italian (all the websites), Polish, and German (only the corn website). Our Facebook and Youtube pages also allow for a rapid retrieval of all contents, technical files, articles, videos, and brochures. Lastly, our campaign calendar allows everyone to be up to date with the upcoming events – which will fully provide high-quality information during the face-to-face meetings – and communicate with the FNPSMS.
